Hee Hee....too funny!

Layla and Brodie doing some kind of gymnastics moves while watching the OU game!!! Those two are a hoot!

Second OU game

Okay, so in case you didn't get the memo the first time, OU football is a passion in this part of the world!! Will, Kathryn and James came to our house for the game this time. and yes we all ate....breakfast! I would go into detail about the pancakes, bacon, etc. but I'm sure you get the point....we pigged out! Here are James and Layla enjoying the game. Did I mention that we totally stomped Miami? Go OU!

My little Indian Chief

Okay, so we went to the Cleveland County Fair this past weekend and had a blast looking at the pigs and goats and sheep and petting ducklings and donkeys and seeing the vegetables that won ribbons, etc. Think Charlotte's Web fair on a much much smaller scale!! Anyway, Brodie and Damon purchased this grand bow and arrow set. I'm not sure who it's for. Both of them have played and played and played with it. Mike and Damon discovered that they had both had the exact same bow and arrow set when they were kids. It was hilarious watching them play with it. Brodie finally had to ask them to let him have his new toy!! He's been sleeping with it every night since. I think it's because I let him have all the arrows and the bow and the belt for the knife and the knife (our general rule is one toy in the bed) Somehow he has convinced me that it is all one toy??!!! Ya gotta give a little, right?!

The bouncy seat again

I just can't get over how silly Layla is!!! she loves to play with her bouncy seat while not in it! I keep meaning to put it in the attic, but she keeps playing with it. Her new fun fav is to have me turn on the music so she can hit it and make it sing while sitting on the floor. We played this game for at least 20 minutes today!!

Labor Day fun

We again went to the zoo, but this time we went to Little River Zoo here in Norman. They are very hands on as you can tell. Brodie got to pet a cervil and feed a kangaroo. He also petted a snake (yuck). We goofed and messed all day. It was great. Ate lunch out at Lake Thunderbird and just basically celebrated Labor by not laboring in the least!!

School Starts!!!

Oh my goodness, I thought I would have so much more time since Brodie is in school, but yikes, I was wrong!!! Well, not really wrong so much as learning to get used to our new schedule. As everyone knows, the Ducks DO NOT get up at 7 AM on a normal basis. We have had to adjust a lot, but we are learning. Brodie has not been late yet so we're doing pretty good. The problem comes in when mom is supposed to go to bed at a reasonable hour in order to get up at 7!!! That means that instead of 1 or 2 I gotta go to bed at 11?!!!!

Okay, so I didn't mean to discuss our schedule change problems so in depth!! Anyway, Labor Day night, Brodie was so excited for school he was jumping up and down on his bed! He hasn't stopped since. He absolutely loves it and on Saturday he was a little dissapointed that he didn't get to go! I did NOT cry on the first day...very impressive. I guess I have had six months to get used to the idea and bawl my eyes out previously. Damon teared up on the way back to the car after dropping him off. It's truly amazing to think how blessed we are that our little guy has turned out to be such an amazing five year old.

Here are the pics of him getting his hair fixed, dad walking him in, and mom saying goodbye on the first day of school. We forgot to take his picture with Mrs. Manning...oops. We'll get one soon I promise!

OU football begins!

Oh the Ducks are so happy that our team has finally started the season again. The opening game was great---OU won big time against North Texas! We had a get together at our friend's house, the Lawlers. Kathryn, Will and Baby James made smoked ribs, corn on the cob, baked beans, veggie tray, bread...the list goes on! We ate and ate and ate! Our friend Michael Snider also came up for the game and was kind enough to take a picture of all of us in our OU gear. Yes, Layla even has an OU outfit. She's all dressed up in her cheerleading clothes! John and Jeanne Parrott, Kathryn's parents were there too. Big fun was had by all. We can't wait for the big game tomorrow against the Miami Hurricanes, a little bit of a tougher team! Norman has been all abuzz about it. Everyone around here lives and breathes football if you haven't guessed!

Dove Hunting

So tomorrow is opening day of dove season and Damon and his hunting buddies are all going. Layla thinks she is too!! She doesn't quite have her camo pattern perfected yet, so I think she's going to have to sit this one out! Brodie has also got his shotgun (yes, we have toy shotguns here) ready to show the guys when they get back.

Also, please look back at August's blogs because I added some new ones before the day changed over to Saturday. (Yes, I am up at midnight playing on the Internet!)

Family pictures

Now, lest you think I am trying to use copyrighted pictures, please note that I took a picture of the picture (also the reason why my head looks a funny shape!). The guy at the Wal-Mart photo center did not see it that way when I tried to print one, but that's okay. I didn't know that if you took a picture of a copyrighted picture that even your picture was copyrighted? I think he was just having a bad day. Have you ever noticed how strange they are at the photo center at Wal-Mart or is it just me? we got some great family pics taken and one of Brodie and Layla that is hysterical. He is lying down propping his head up with his hand trying his hardest to be still and smile and she is sitting sorta behind him. well, she grabbed a giant handful of his hair and is pulling super hard and he has this look on his face like, Seriously? It's hilarious. And by the way, getting pictures taken is so stressful but the result is always good.
